The actors will portray the father of actor Kate Walsh's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery. Collins will appear as the husband of actress JoBeth Williams.

Collins' Broadway credits include his 2008 role as King Arthur in Spamalot and prior appearances in Moonchildren, The Ritz, The Loves of Anatol, and No Sex Please, We're British; off-Broadway he appeared opposite Sigourney Weaver in Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy, as Macduff to Christopher Walken's Macbeth at Lincoln Center, and as husband to Julie Andrews (with whom he shares a birthday) in the Stephen Sondheim revue, Putting It Together at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1993.

Williams most recently starred in the The Night is a Child by Charles Randolph-Wright at the Pasadena Playhouse. She was also seen onstage in the plays Body Awareness and Quality of Life.

The series also stars several Broadway stars, including Audra McDonald and Taye Diggs. Audra McDonald - who earned an unprecedented three Tony Awards before the age of 30 (Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime), and a fourth in 2004 (A Raisin in the Sun) - blends classically-trained soprano with an incomparable gift for dramatic truth-telling. In addition to her theatrical work, she maintains a major career as a concert and recording artist. She has sung regularly with all the major American orchestras, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; Boston, Chicago, National, and San Francisco symphony orchestras; and the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras - with many of the world's leading conductors, such as John Adams, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Leonard Slatkin, and Michael Tilson Thomas. In the spring of 2005 she appeared with the New York Philharmonic to "preview" a scene from John Adams's then not yet premiered opera Doctor Atomic, with the composer conducting. Overseas, she performs at the BBC Proms (where she was only the second American in more than 100 years to solo on the famed "Last Night of the Proms"); with the London Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic; and at Paris's Théâtre du Châtelet. Ms. McDonald also maintains a thriving television career, and currently can be seen as Dr. Naomi Bennett in the third season of the hit ABC television series Private Practice. Her most recent recordings are Kurt Weill's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (winner of two 2009 Grammy Awards) and a new studio recording of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Allegro (on the Sony MasterWorks Broadway label). Born into a musical family, Audra McDonald grew up in Fresno, California, and received her classical vocal training at The Juilliard School. Ms. McDonald last appeared with the New York Philharmonic on December 31, 2006, for a nationally televised New Year's Eve concert, conducted by Ted Sperling.

Taye Diggs currently appears on ABC-TV's 'Private Practice'. His television credits also include 'Kevin Hill' (UPN), 'Ally McBeal' (Fox), and 'Daybreak' (ABC). His feature film credits include How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Brown Sugar, Chicago, Rent, and others. Diggs' Broadway credits include Rent, Wicked, and Chicago.

Taye Diggs co-founded dre.dance in 2004. Emotion and power drive the company's aesthetic, while simultaneously maintaining the directors' most important quality, authenticity. Childhood friends from Rochester, New York, Palermo and Diggs have worked together for over eighteen years. They have presented three full-length New York seasons (two at Ailey Citigroup Theatre, one at Joyce Soho), as well as performances at the New York City Festival of Dance, Dance New Amsterdam's 'In the Company of Men Festival', TriPAC's Work and Show Festival, John Jay College, and a solo for Desmond Richardson, originally presented as part of Complexions Contemporary Ballet's 2007 Joyce season."Private Practice" stars Kate Walsh as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, Tim Daly as Dr. Pete Wilder, Audra McDonald as Dr. Naomi Bennett, Paul Adelstein as Dr. Cooper Freedman, KaDee Strickland as Dr. Charlotte King, Chris Lowell as William Dell Parker, with Taye Diggs as Dr. Sam Bennett and Amy Brenneman as Dr. Violet Turner.

"Private Practice" airs Thursdays at 10pm on ABC-TVUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-513414465987146616.post-58898112344891476462009-11-13T00:19:00.000-08:002009-11-13T00:21:52.874-08:00Watch Private Practice - Season 3, Episode 7: The Hard Part

Addison and Sam go for a hike in Malibu, they come across an expecting couple trapped in their car after an accident, they then perform urgent field care. Fox, which aired the fifth game of the American League Championship Series, was second, and CBS, despite airing two repeats, came in third.
According to early estimates from Nielsen, "Grey's" (5.2 rating/14 share in the 18-49 demo, 14.6 million viewers) was dominant. Sandwiched between steady 8 p.m. freshman drama "FlashForward" (3.0/9, 9.8m) and "Private Practice" (3.7/10, 9.9m), the Alphabet not only won in the demo but also edged CBS in overall viewers.

Of course, the Eye would quickly counter that both "CSI" (2.1/6, 10m) and "The Mentalist" (2.7/8, 11.3) were reruns. Net's reality staple "Survivor" (4.0/11) was the most-watched show of the evening with 12.8 million viewers.

Numbers are sure to go up once they become official, but Fox's early tallies on the Yankees-Angels game were 3.3/9, with 10.3 million viewers. Network projects that the game will be the highest ALCS since the seventh-game matchup between the Red Sox and Indians in 2007.

At 9 p.m., "The Office" (4.2/11, 8.5m) continues to fare well for NBC, and the laffer defeated "Grey's Anatomy" in 18-34 (pending the baseball game final results). "30 Rock" (3.2/8, 6.6m) was up slightly from its premiere a week ago.

"Community" (1.9/6, 5.1) was on average for the Peacock since being moved to 8 p.m., but the Joel McHale comedy hasn't done as well as when it was scheduled at 9:30. "Parks & Recreation" (2.1/6, 4.9m) was also on par, as was "The Jay Leno Show" (1.6/5, 4.9m).

CW offered repeats of "The Vampire Diaries" (0.9/3, 2.3m) and "Supernatural" (0.8/2, 1.8m).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 4.0/11; Fox, 3.3/9; CBS, 3.0/8; NBC, 2.4/7; Univision, 1.4/4; CW, 0.8/2.
In total viewers: ABC, 11.48 million; CBS, 11.45 million; Fox, 10.34 million; NBC, 5.87 million; Univision, 3.54 million; CW, 2.07 million.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-513414465987146616.post-33442582462323317302009-10-23T05:27:00.000-07:002009-10-25T07:00:58.260-07:00Watch Private Practice Episode - TV's "Psych," "House," "Private Practice" Stars Head L.A. The album skyrocketed up the iTunes charts hitting Top 5 Christian Albums, Top 20 Pop Albums, and broke into the Top 100 Overall Albums.

The recent iTunes review of the duo’s song “ClearView,” embraces the buzz-worthy track, saying, “The award for ‘song that sounds like it belongs in an iPod Commercial’ goes to the talented sister duo...”.

Tal & Acacia’s music receives further promotion following “Private Practice” this week with a feature on the iTunes Facebook Fan Page, launching on Friday, Oct. 16. Produced by Monroe Jones (Ginny Owens, Chris Rice, Third Day, Caedmon’s Call), Tal & Acacia’s Wake Me is distinctly rich and infectious, andintuitively embraces the clash between the principled, spiritual inner self and a confusing, glittery outer culture. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-513414465987146616.post-70405103798679428782009-10-16T02:20:00.001-07:002009-10-25T07:02:30.317-07:00Watch Private Practice Episode - Season 3, Episode 3: Right Here, Right Now

Miranda Bailey brings a kidney transplant patient to Los Angeles, and Addison and especially Sam is pleased to see her. The Grey's Anatomy faithful either loved it for doubling the length of their favorite show, or hated it for stealing away their favorite neonatal surgeon. Like Grey's, the characters are constantly drowning in personal and professional drama which makes for some interesting television.

Season 2 begins with crucial developments at Oceanside Wellness Center. The practice is hemorrhaging money and pieces of medical equipment are being repossessed. After a professional disagreement between Sam (Taye Diggs) and Naomi (Audra McDonald), the rest of the doctors elect Addison (Kate Walsh) leader of the practice against her will. She sells off the unused practice space on the fourth floor to bring Oceanside back into the black. The only problem is the new tenants turn out to be a competing medical practice, complete with the evil Charlotte King (KaDee Strickland) at the helm. Oceanside Wellness may provide personalized care in a therapeutic environment, but the new practice, Pacific Wellcare, provides free coffee and breakfast! Even Cooper (Paul Adelstein) and Pete (Tim Daly) can't resist the allure of free food.

Until mid-season, many of the storylines revolve around the two practices competing for business. Then, Charlotte is replaced by a sinister male counterpart, Wyatt Lockhart (Jay Harrington), who insists upon collaboration for the sake of better patient care. Addison hates the arrogant Dr. Lockhart! She hates him for almost four episodes before she decides that his slickster charm is kind of appealing, and promptly messes up her relationship with SWAT cutie Kevin (David Sutcliffe) to go be seduced by him. Alas, creepy Wyatt has skipped town (to go star in his own show, Better off Ted) and now Addison's brother, Archer (Grant Show), is running Pacific Wellcare. Archer used to hang with the likes of McDreamy and McSteamy, which sets off a series of Grey's Anatomy crossover episodes. The final story arc of the season builds to a sensationalistic cliffhanger that toes the scalpel-sharp line between drama and melodrama.

Along the way, Addison toys with breaking up a marriage, Sam and Naomi struggle to define their relationship, Charlotte and Cooper have a lot of tempestuous sex, Pete fools around with pretty much anyone he can get his hands on, Violet (Amy Brenneman) gets pregnant and doesn't know who the daddy is, and Dell (Chris Lowell) turns into a complete punk. Dell's transformation is the one crushing disappointment of the season. In the first season, Dell starts off as a hot lunchtime diversion and ends up as Private Practice's version of Dr. Miranda Bailey -- the calm, rational individual around which all the chaos swirls. In this season, Dell turns out to be a judgmental bully, so wrapped up in his personal problems that he mixes up two frozen embryos. I think it's great that Chris Lowell's character is being given more screen time, but to make him the kind of guy who sulks around the office like a petulant child? The kind of guy who tries to coerce pregnant women into doing what he thinks is best? Well, that is not the laidback surfer guy we all fell in love with.

One of the things that sets this season of Private Practice apart from the previous season is the examination of a whole series of ethical dilemmas. Here are just a few of the issues that come to light:

1. Hymenoplasty for an American Muslim girl so she can be married off as a virgin.

2. Is it okay for a pediatrician to post on an adult dating website?

3. Two pregnant patients unknowingly have the same cheating husband.

4. Mandatory vaccinations vs. autism.

5. A suffering hospice patient wants enough morphine to overdose.

6. A terminally ill teenager wants to withdraw his ventilator, but Dad isn't ready to let go.

7. Who should decide the gender of a hermaphroditic baby?

What is fascinating about the episodes is that frequently there are no right answers. While the doctors of Oceanside Wellness often end up doing what real doctors can only dream of doing, watching the group debate and the individuals struggle is really thought provoking.

22 episodes on 6 discs are presented in widescreen format with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. The entire package runs approximately 946 minutes. Bonus Features are as follows:

Extended Episodes/Deleted Scenes: Nothing shocking here. In fact, many of the deleted scenes seemed very familiar to me, as if they were only slightly different from the scenes that made it into the episodes.

Bloopers: A short feature with some funny stuff involving surgical instruments.

Patient Confidentiality: Shonda Rhimes discusses in detail some of the aforementioned ethical dilemmas, many of which steam from legalities involving confidentiality.

Life through the Lens: Chris Lowell takes breathtaking photographs all over the world when he's not busy playing Dell Parker and they are showcased here, accompanied by cast narration. This is worth a watch both for the amazing photography and the hilarious riffing between Lowell and Taye Diggs.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-513414465987146616.post-63052191251951327722009-09-16T11:47:00.000-07:002009-10-25T07:03:18.854-07:00Watch Private Practice Episode - Celebrity Interviews: Paul Adelstein

Celebrity Interviews: Private Practice: Paul Adelstein

CHARACTER BIO

Dr. Cooper Freedman is a board-certified pediatrician and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
