Watch Private Practice - Stephen Collins and JoBeth Williams Land Guest Starring Roles on 'Private Practice,' Set To Appear 12/3

Broadway veteran Stephen Collins will appear on the December 3rd episode of ABC's "Private Practice." The actors will portray the father of actor Kate Walsh's character, Dr. Addison Montgomery. Collins will appear as the husband of actress JoBeth Williams.

Collins' Broadway credits include his 2008 role as King Arthur in Spamalot and prior appearances in Moonchildren, The Ritz, The Loves of Anatol, and No Sex Please, We're British; off-Broadway he appeared opposite Sigourney Weaver in Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy, as Macduff to Christopher Walken's Macbeth at Lincoln Center, and as husband to Julie Andrews (with whom he shares a birthday) in the Stephen Sondheim revue, Putting It Together at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1993.

Williams most recently starred in the The Night is a Child by Charles Randolph-Wright at the Pasadena Playhouse. She was also seen onstage in the plays Body Awareness and Quality of Life.

The series also stars several Broadway stars, including Audra McDonald and Taye Diggs. Audra McDonald - who earned an unprecedented three Tony Awards before the age of 30 (Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime), and a fourth in 2004 (A Raisin in the Sun) - blends classically-trained soprano with an incomparable gift for dramatic truth-telling. In addition to her theatrical work, she maintains a major career as a concert and recording artist. She has sung regularly with all the major American orchestras, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; Boston, Chicago, National, and San Francisco symphony orchestras; and the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras - with many of the world's leading conductors, such as John Adams, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Leonard Slatkin, and Michael Tilson Thomas. In the spring of 2005 she appeared with the New York Philharmonic to "preview" a scene from John Adams's then not yet premiered opera Doctor Atomic, with the composer conducting. Overseas, she performs at the BBC Proms (where she was only the second American in more than 100 years to solo on the famed "Last Night of the Proms"); with the London Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic; and at Paris's Théâtre du Châtelet. Ms. McDonald also maintains a thriving television career, and currently can be seen as Dr. Naomi Bennett in the third season of the hit ABC television series Private Practice. Her most recent recordings are Kurt Weill's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (winner of two 2009 Grammy Awards) and a new studio recording of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Allegro (on the Sony MasterWorks Broadway label). Born into a musical family, Audra McDonald grew up in Fresno, California, and received her classical vocal training at The Juilliard School. Ms. McDonald last appeared with the New York Philharmonic on December 31, 2006, for a nationally televised New Year's Eve concert, conducted by Ted Sperling.

Taye Diggs currently appears on ABC-TV's 'Private Practice'. His television credits also include 'Kevin Hill' (UPN), 'Ally McBeal' (Fox), and 'Daybreak' (ABC). His feature film credits include How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Brown Sugar, Chicago, Rent, and others. Diggs' Broadway credits include Rent, Wicked, and Chicago.

Taye Diggs co-founded dre.dance in 2004. Emotion and power drive the company's aesthetic, while simultaneously maintaining the directors' most important quality, authenticity. Childhood friends from Rochester, New York, Palermo and Diggs have worked together for over eighteen years. They have presented three full-length New York seasons (two at Ailey Citigroup Theatre, one at Joyce Soho), as well as performances at the New York City Festival of Dance, Dance New Amsterdam's 'In the Company of Men Festival', TriPAC's Work and Show Festival, John Jay College, and a solo for Desmond Richardson, originally presented as part of Complexions Contemporary Ballet's 2007 Joyce season."Private Practice" stars Kate Walsh as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery, Tim Daly as Dr. Pete Wilder, Audra McDonald as Dr. Naomi Bennett, Paul Adelstein as Dr. Cooper Freedman, KaDee Strickland as Dr. Charlotte King, Chris Lowell as William Dell Parker, with Taye Diggs as Dr. Sam Bennett and Amy Brenneman as Dr. Violet Turner.

Watch Private Practice - Caught in the Act!

kate walsh

• Kate Walsh dined out at L.A.'s exclusive Sunset Tower Hotel in a so-not-Hollywood way: totally makeup free! The Private Practice star, who was joined by friends, was also dressed down in slacks and a blazer at the popular spot for star-watching. Walsh sat at the head of the table and seemed very engaged in what seemed like a business discussion, a source says.

• She may have been one of the night's honorees – but Lady Gaga was busy playing with Barbie dolls at her table during the recent Accessories Council Awards in New York. The singer, who received the Stylemaker Award from Marc Jacobs, sipped water through her veil while dressing up the dolls alongside the designer.

• 16 members of the Glee cast – including hunky Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel) and Mark Salling (Puck) – arrived en masse for lunch at New York eatery The Smith in the East Village. The group ordered a pile of burgers, avocado sandwiches, tuna salad and more – and all dived in, sharing dishes, laughs and conversation. Equally amused: Fellow diners, who excitedly texted and snapped photos.

• Real Housewives of New York City star Kelly Bensimon requested to have her table moved out of the VIP section at the Joonbug.com party in New York so she could dance with fellow revelers. She also downed Coronas all night.

• Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford, shopping at the Lily Pulitzer boutique in Manhattan solo. The actress scooped up a Kaya dress in pink ($298), a Paley cardigan ($98) and a pair of white Palm Beach cropped jeans ($138).

Watch Private Practice - 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Private Practice' cross over again

Kate Walsh and Eric Dane

The doctors of Seattle Grace-Mercy West and Oceanside Wellness will be racking up some more frequent flyer miles between L.A. and Seattle later this season.

"Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice" will cross over again in early 2010, with former lovers Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) and Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) popping up on each other's shows, according to several reports.

The crossover will begin with Addison heading to Seattle for a surgery on a young patient (Leven Rambin of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"). Sloan will then travel to Oceanside for followup. We're going to assume that a healthy dose of commentary on their past will be part of the action as well.

"Grey's Anatomy" and its spinoff have made a semi-regular habit of crossing into one another's worlds since "Private Practice" began in fall 2007. The two shows did a two-week crossover last February, and Walsh also made an appearance on "Grey's" in May 2008. James Pickens Jr. did a cameo on the "Private Practice" series premiere, and Chandra Wilson guested as Bailey earlier this season.

ABC hasn't set an airdate for the latest crossover, but it's likely to run shortly after the new year.

This handsome actor won us over a decade ago, during his eight-season stint on NBC’s Wings. We’re happy to be getting a weekly dose of him again as holistic healer Dr. Pete Wilder on ABC’s Private Practice.

Tim Daly has taken on the screen from every angle. As an actor, he’s morphed from frightening cult leader David Koresh in In the Line of Duty: Ambush at Waco to legendary astronaut Jim Lovell in From the Earth to the Moon, from a corrupt Army colonel opposite John Travolta in Basic to the voice of iconic superhero Superman in the animated series and animated feature. Daly appeared in several episodes of the award-winning The Sopranos as a drug addicted scriptwriter, for which he received a 2007 Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

While acting remains his truest passion, Daly has been actively producing and directing in recent years, the results of which have garnered him both a Peabody and a Humanitas Award for Showtime’s Edge of America, which opened the 2004 Sundance film festival. On the big screen his directorial debut, Bereft (co-directed with acclaimed cinematographer Clark Mathis), premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2004 and went on to screen at the Seattle, Hamptons, Chicago and AFI Film Festivals. Recently Daly produced the documentary film Poliwood, directed by Barry Levinson, presenting an in-depth look at the 2008 election. It premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. Daly’s association with Poliwood stems from his involvement with The Creative Coalition, on which he serves as co-president with Tony Goldwyn. The Coalition is a nonprofit, nonpartisan social and political advocacy organization which educates leaders in the arts community on issues of public importance, specifically First Amendment rights, arts advocacy and public education.

On the big screen recently for Daly was the psychological thriller The Skeptic, directed by Tennyson Bardwell. He also starred in Against the Ropes, with Meg Ryan. Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery is one of the foremost neo-natal surgeons in the world. She is also a double board-certified OB/GYN. Dr. Montgomery joined Oceanside Wellness Group after a brief—yet significant—stint at Seattle Grace Hospital, where she commanded a state-of-the-art NICU and worked on several high-profile cases, including the delivery of quintuplets. Originally from Manhattan, Dr. Montgomery is a close friend of Drs. Sam and Naomi Bennett, having known the former couple since medical school.

ACTOR BIO

She became one of our favorite prime time docs by portraying Addison Montgomery on Grey’s Anatomy. Lucky for us, her departure from Seattle Grace led to a starring role on ABC’s Private Practice.

Born in San Jose, California and raised both there and in Tucson, Arizona, Kate Walsh began her career in Chicago, studying at the renowned Piven Theatre Workshop. She then starred in theatrical productions of the critically acclaimed Born Guilty, Moon Under Miami and Troilus and Cressida at the Shakespeare Repertory.

In Chicago, Walsh was cast in her first two independent films, Normal Life, directed by John McNaughton, and Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer II.

The actress' career quickly took off with a move to New York for comedy and improvisation training. She landed series regular roles on The Mike O'Malley Show (ABC), Mind of a Married Man (HBO) and The Drew Carey Show (ABC). Walsh is perhaps best known for her work on the ABC series Grey's Anatomy, in which she portrayed Addison Montgomery. She and her fellow cast members received the 2007 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Walsh stars in the thriller Legion, opposite Dennis Quaid and Paul Bettany. Other feature credits include Kicking and Screaming, Under the Tuscan Sun, After the Sunset, Inside Out and The Family Man.

Walsh resides in Los Angeles.
